Clean Burn Unit Retired After 24 Years of Service

LEOLA, PA – – Clean Burn’s 10-year warranty is the best in its industry, but many of their customers have seen their furnaces run at least twice that long. One Clean Burn furnace that’s been operating at D N Welding & Fabrication, Inc. in Illinois, has just been retired after 24 years of service. Talk about return-on-investment!

“We got our Clean Burn unit when we opened our doors and its been a work horse ever since,” says Danny Darnell, president of D N Welding & Fabrication, Inc. in Park City, Ill. “This piece of equipment may qualify as our longest, hardest working employee in the company!”

Back when Darnell’s company opened its doors, their Clean Burn unit was used to recycle used-oil generated when the company did truck repairs. Eventually that aspect of the business went away and now, more than two decades later, the company focuses on metal fabrication work for the construction industry and doesn’t have an internal source for used oil.

“We’ve made a deal with the trucking company directly across from us,” says Scott Nelson, vice president of D N Welding & Fabrication. “They give us their used oil --- almost 500 gallons a month --- and we recycle it through our Clean Burn unit to create free heat for our five-person fabrication shop. This is a winning way for them to cleanly and safely dispose of used motor oil while allowing us to keep our heating costs down.”

Darnell and Nelson recently purchased a new Clean Burn 3500 furnace to replace the original unit they retired. “We found that the first unit was a tremendous investment and saved us on energy costs,” says Darnell. “It makes sense that we want to continue with those savings … especially when we’re getting 6,000 gallons of used oil for free each year!

“We absolutely recommend these products for anyone who has a source of used oil. Instead of paying to haul away the oil and potentially damage the environment, you can easily recycle the oil and gain free heat. What better way is there for a small business owner to save money and gain such a strong return-on-investment?”

There are 80,000 Clean Burn functional furnaces and boilers located throughout the world that burn approximately 120 million gallons of used-oil each year on-site, at the point of generation. This volume of used-oil would otherwise be transported on highway systems and pose a considerable risk to spills and/or contamination to the environment.

Clean Burn holds numerous industry certifications and works with the U.S. government, the Environmental Protection Agency and various associations to help coordinate the establishment of standards and regulations related to heat recovery and recycling efforts involving used motor oils.
